Happy Malaysia Day 2015

It has been a long while since I last updated this blog and I was glad to be able to meet up old friends again from my class and also our seniors. This meeting was initiated by Datuk Mohammad Lan Allani with the assistance from Sahat andd Wan Iskandar. Though all of us are residing in Klang Valley except for Sahat from KK we do not seems to see each others at all, probably everyone has his own commitment and family to take care.
I remember Mat Lan as a prominent sport man where he ran, played hockey, tennis and many more in the school. It was timely that Sahat was in town to organise this dinner and it was nice to catch up with Allias, Captain Mahmood and Rashid again. We had a wonderful dinner and thank you Datuk for the treat. We shall meet again.

My Search for Old Friends Continues - Allias Ishak & Ven Joilin

It was a good afternoon at Royal Selangor Club in front of the famous Padang of Kuala Lumpur where four old friends from the same school met up and had a lot to talk about the past.
From right : Allias Ishak, Thinakaran Shanmugam, Ven Joilin & Sin Tai Lim.

Allias and I were from the same primary class in Tunku Abdul Malik School, Kulim. In this black & white image were Allias & Anuar Shamsuddin (also another classmate of ours). The last I met Allias accidentally in State, Petaling Jaya was sometime early 80's. It was so good to meet up with him again.

A night with Ven Joilin from Sabah and we have KL Hokkien Noodle at Chinatown, Petaling Street.

Ven Joilin is one year our junior, he was one of the many Sabahan under Sabah Foundation to spent years in Kulim & studied in Sultan Badlishah School. Young & handsome Ven in this Geography Society picture in 1975.

We ate with our fingers and it is sort of mandatory to do so when eating Indian banana leave rice. Over in this table there is a Kadazan, a Chinese, Malay and an Indian eating together and we talked about our good old days in Sultan Badlishah School. Malaysia should be proud of us.

A. Bathmanathan Another Long Lost Friend Found

My mission to locate my old classmates has been very encouraging. Bathamnathan sitting next to our form teacher Miss. Low Guat Sim.

Bathamnathan is always a quiet person and I glad to meet him in Penang on 4 March 2011 after 36 years.

We were in the same class in 1970 in a Primary School called Sekolah Tunku Abdul Malik, Kulim, Kedah.

Classmate Sam Segran a.k.a. Vengadasamy Sekaran

Mahendran has done a good work, he managed to trace Sekaran in the cyber space. But Sekaran has yet to respond from Mahendran’s email. We will wait for his good reply.

We were in this class in Std 6 in Tunku Malik Primary School, Kulim, Kedah.

And in his class in Form 1 (1971) – 1 Merah.

A biography of Sekaran extracted from the cyber space :
after spending a few years in the International Airline industry, Sam Segran joined the Information Technology field in 1985. He has been at Texas Tech University since 1983 and has earned a Bachelor's degree in MIS and an MBA in MIS. He started as a Computer Help Desk consultant in 1985 and rose steadily through the ranks. After spending three years as Deputy CIO, he was promoted to his current position of Chief Information Officer for Texas Tech University in April 2003. He is active in various professional organizations and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas LoneStar Education and Research Network (LEARN). His major focus is the Safe Computing Practices campaign at Texas Tech University. His favorite pastimes include reading, traveling, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his wife Jamie and his "baby" T-Rex (5 pound toy poodle).”

Guess he has changed his name as Sam Segran.

Ram Naidu a Classmate Found After 35 Years

The name Ram Naidu was a popular name among us during our era in Badlishah School.  Everyone knows this name (until today) but has not seen him for ages (some 35 years or so). I tried several times calling him recently but failed to receive any respond from the other end. One final night while I was attending a wedding dinner in Penang I receive his call and he remembers wrongly, he thought I was the sawmill owner in Lunas.

Somehow on the following day I managed to coax him to meet up on my way back to Kuala Lumpur at Sg. Juru R&R. Both of us could not recognize each other. We would if we were to have been facebooking each other before we meet.
Ram Naidu on the left next to Bukhori, Ramasamy & Hamzah Wahiddudin. An image from our Standard 6 Class photo. Note he wore a black shoe, always outstanding & different from others.
Form 1 Merah (1971) sandwiched between Sukunaselan & A. Bathmanathan.

It was a wonderful feeling meeting Naidu at Sg. Juru that day. We hope to see each other again.
